Like many museums, most of the Alabama Historical
Commission's historic sites have friends groups.
Through volunteer efforts, these groups exist to
support the sites financially and with advice.
Members care deeply about their particular site--at
the historic house museums, many are descendants of
the original family. Some members have other kinds
of personal ties to their site, while some are
interested in local or state history.
Each group is different. Some have a governing
board only, others have a board and hundreds of
paying members.
