Alabama Historical Commission Mission
To protect, preserve and interpret Alabama's Historic Places
Alabama Historical Commission Goals
The Alabama Historical Commission's goals and objectives
parallel those in the Alabama Statewide Comprehensive
Preservation Plan. These goals guide the agency's
federally-funded historic preservation programs, the
state-funded preservation programs and the AHC's historic
sites.

Executive Director's Work Plan
Alabama Statewide Comprehensive Historic
Preservation Plan
The Alabama Historical Commission works with the public to
develop the
Alabama Statewide Comprehensive Historic
Preservation Plan. This plan guides the the direction of all
preservation activities in Alabama, not just those of the
AHC. It is revised every five years to comply with the
requirements of the National Historic Preservation Act of
1966, et. Seq.
Each year, the AHC publishes and seeks comments on its
Annual Work Plan This document lays out how the AHC will
implement the plan for its federally funded activities. The
work plan is posted on this site each year and is printed in
the January-February issue of Preservation Report. Printed
copies of the document are available by request. Contact
